Montgomery Biscuits News Release

For Immediate Release Contact: Aaron Vargas Date: April 25, 2015 Biscuits Stay Hot, Win Seven-error Game Biscuits win 8-of-10 with a 7-4 victory over Jackson MONTGOMERY, Ala. - It wasn't pretty, but the Montgomery Biscuits (8-8) got back to .500 on Saturday night in their series opener against the visiting Jackson Generals (4-9) winning 7-4 at Riverwalk.

Seven errors were committed between the two teams, including four by the Generals, but the Biscuits bats did enough to ensure a Montgomery victory. Leadoff man Boog Powell continued to impress as table-setter, going 4-for-5 with three RBI and a stolen base, knocking in two on a single in the second and another with a double in the seventh.

Shortstop Daniel Robertson and first baseman Patrick Leonard had RBI doubles of their own, while Hector Guevara knocked a run in himself.

But the real story was Biscuits starter Jaime Schultz (2-0) who impressed again in his fourth start of the year, dazzling Generals hitters for six near flawless innings striking out nine, walking none, and allowing just one run.

Jackson starter Dylan Unsworth (0-3), who is trying to become the first South African to play in Major League Baseball, lasted only two innings, surrendering four runs on six hits with zero strikeouts.

The Generals made it close at one point, cutting the deficit to 5-4 in the seventh, but Biscuits reliever Zach Cooper got out of the jam, and Montgomery pulled away from there with Mark Sappington tallying his first save of the season to close out the ninth.

The Biscuits will look to make it two in a row Sunday afternoon when they send Austin Pruitt (1-1) to the hill against Misael Silverio (0-0).
