New England Revolution News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution announced today that the club has placed defender Darrius Barnes on the disabled list after he underwent successful surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his left knee. Dr. Scott Martin performed the surgery at Faulkner Hospital in Boston on Thursday and Barnes is scheduled to be sidelined for the next six months.

Barnes has appeared in five of the Revs' seven games this season, making three starts at right back and one in central defense with the club going 2-0-2 in the games that he started. The 28-year-old has one assist in 391 minutes of action this season, helping to set up Kelyn Rowe's game-winning goal against San Jose on March 28.

One of the longest tenured members of the club, having been selected by New England in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, Barnes has appeared in 125 regular-season games for the club, scoring twice and adding four assists while making 107 starts. His last goal came on July 4, 2014 against the Revs' opponent this weekend, Real Salt Lake.
