Great Lakes Loons News Release

Eastlake, Ohio - The Loons leapt out to a 4-0 lead and withstood a seventh-inning charge from the Lake County Captains en route to a 4-2 win at Classic Park on Friday night.

Lake County's deuce scored on a two-run blast to left field by Sicnarf Loopstok with two outs in the seventh off right-hander Kyle Hooper. That one pitch notwithstanding, the Loons' arms turned in a dominant performance.

Trevor Oaks made his third start and earned his second win with a six-inning performance in which he allowed no runs on two hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Bubby Rossman cleaned up the Captains over the final two frames and allowed one base hit as he tallied his first save as a Loon.

Offensively, Michael Ahmed continued to tick and turned in another multi-hit night in the leadoff spot. He batted home Jimmy Allen to put the Loons out to a 1-0 lead in the third. Ahmed also denied the Captains two scoring chances with sublime glove work off the second-base bag.

For the first time in five games, Johan Mieses failed to register a hit, but the Dominican teenager still impacted the Loons' run total with an RBI fielder's choice and an RBI sacrifice fly.

The Loons also received aid from Faustino Oguisten, who made his season debut on Friday night. Oguisten, who began the season on disabled list, became the second Loon to score multiple runs in a single game this season with a 2-for-3 performance. He doubled, singled, walked, stole a base and scored twice.

With the win, the Loons (8-5) move to 6-1 on the road this season. They started 8-1 away from home in 2014. The Captains (6-10) have lost three straight and see their starting pitcher from Friday, Jordan Milbrath, fall to 0-2. Milbrath pitched six innings and allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits with a walk and seven strikeouts.

The Loons return to Dow Diamond on Tuesday, April 28 to open a three-game homestand against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. First pitch on Tuesday is at 6:05 p.m.

The Great Lakes Loons are a ninth-year Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. For tickets and more information about the Loons, visit Loons.com, or call 989-837-BALL.
