Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the signing of infielder Casio Grider and that infielder Brock Bond has elected to retire from professional baseball.

Grider, 27, is a former farmhand of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He appeared in 85 games in the Dodgers system last season, including five at Class AAA Albuquerque and 51 at Class AA Chattanooga. He batted .210 last season with six home runs and 21 RBI.

"He's a young, athletic infielder," Forney said. "He's a well-above average runner with 6.4 speed and he has a lot of range. He can play multiple positions and steal a lot of bases."

Grider was selected by the Dodgers in the 14th round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft and played six seasons in their system, mostly at the Rookie and Class A levels. Known for his speed, Grider has 131 career stolen bases and has reached at least 22 steals in four of his six pro seasons.

Meanwhile, Bond has chosen to end his professional baseball career to pursue other career opportunities. He led the American Association with a .448 on-base percentage last season. 0 0 1 177 1015 Wintergreen Financial Services Ltd. 8 2 1190 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE
