Dallas Signs Janmark to Entry-Level Deal
April 24, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Texas Stars News Release
FRISCO, Texas - Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has signed center Mattias Janmark to a two-year entry-level contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Janmark (YAHN-mark, muh-TEE-uhs), 22, was second on Frolunda and tied for 17th in the Swedish Hockey League with 36 points (13-23=36) in 55 regular-season games played this season. He was the youngest player in the League's top-20 points standings in 2014-15. In 13 playoff contests, he registered seven points (4-3=7) and four penalty minutes.
Last season, he led AIK of the Swedish Hockey League in goals and points (18-12=30). He also made his AHL debut in the 2013-14 campaign, skating in two regular-season games with Grand Rapids, and posting one point (0-1=1) in six Calder Cup Playoffs games.
"Mattias has done a tremendous job of excelling in the Swedish Hockey League at a young age," said Nill. "He will spend the playoffs with Texas and we're excited to watch how he contributes to that team and develops as a player."
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Stockholm, Sweden was originally selected by Detroit in the third round (79th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft. He was acquired by Dallas, along with Mattias Backman and a second round selection in the 2015 NHL Draft, from Detroit in exchange for Erik Cole and a conditional third round selection in the 2015 NHL Draft on March 1, 2015.
