Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY (April 23, 2015) - One run was all it took for the Salt Lake Bees to down the Fresno Grizzlies Thursday night at Smith's Ballpark. The 1-0 victory marks the third consecutive game the Bees have won by a single run and the sixth game between the two teams this season that has been decided by one run. The decision is just the ninth time in franchise history a game in Smith's Ballpark has ended in a 1-0 score.

In his first-career Triple-A start, Salt Lake pitcher Tyler DeLoach (1-0) tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, walking two and striking out five to earn the win. Jeremy McBryde pitched a scoreless inning-and-a-third before Edgar Ibarra came in and earned the save after striking out the final two batters of the game to give the Bees the victory. The Bees bats struck in the fifth as Alex Yarbrough singled with one out to bring in Roger Kieschnick from second. Yarbrough finished the night 2-for-2 with a walk and claimed the sole RBI of the game. Kyle Kubitza went 2-for-4 while also knocking his professional baseball-leading 11th double of the season.

"I was pretty nervous going into tonight. I just wanted to fill up the strike zone," said DeLoach. "I've thrown with Jett [Bandy] before, so it was nice to have someone back there I was comfortable with. I just wanted to get ahead and make outs."

The Bees wrap up the home stand tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. and will be celebrating Beard Appreciation Night with Matt Shoemaker beard beanie giveaways at the gate. Salt Lake will see El Paso and Albuquerque on the road before returning to Smith's Ballpark to take on Tacoma on May 4 at 6:35 p.m.
