Windsor Trails Finals After Humiliating Loss

April 23, 2015 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Windsor Express News Release

(HALIFAX, NS) The Windsor Express suffered their worst loss of the season, falling 100-70 to the Halifax Rainmen in Game 3 of the NBL Finals on Thursday night.

Windsor never led in the game, starting out trailing 7-0 to Halifax before they scored their first basket of the game.

The deficit grew to 11 after the first quarter, with the Express down 24-13.

Things got worse for Windsor in the second quarter, when DeAndre Thomas was assessed an unsportsmanlike foul with less than three minutes left and ejected from the game.

The Express watched Halifax's lead balloon to 19 in the quarter before heading into the locker rooms down 47-32.

From there, Windsor never got closer than 14 the rest of the way, falling 24-17 in the third, to go into the final frame down 71-49.

The Windsor offense struggled from start to finish, shooting only 30.8% from the field and sinking one three pointer in 20 attempts.

Kirk Williams Jr led the team with 13 points, Quinnel Brown was the only other Windsor player to score in double figures with 11.

Luckily, the Express won't have much time to think about the loss, as Game 4 of the NBL Finals goes tomorrow night, Friday April 23rd at 6:00pm Eastern time.

The Express will be hosting a viewing party at The Loose Goose Restro Pub & Lounge at 126 Ouellette Avenue tomorrow starting at 6:00pm.

The Rainmen now leads the Final 2-1 with Games 4 and 5 at the Scotiabank Centre.

Windsor will not return home unless there is a Game 6, which would take place on Tuesday, April 28th at the WFCU Centre at 7:00pm.

Once Game 6 is confirmed, tickets will be made available online at www.windsorexpress.ca and www.wfcu-centre.com, while they can be purchased by phone at 519-800-3665 and at the TekSavvy.com Box Office inside the WFCU Centre.
