Mallards Announce 2015-16 Home Schedule

April 23, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (April 23, 2015) - The Quad City Mallards today announced the team's 2015-16 home schedule, beginning with a Friday night, October 23 home opener against the Tulsa Oilers and featuring 31 fan-friendly weekend dates, including 14 Friday nights and nine Saturday evenings

Game times have yet to be finalized and the full ECHL 2015-16 regular season schedule is set to be released next week.

The Mallards' home slate kicks off with back-to-back games against the Oilers, who will also visit the iWireless Center on Saturday, October 24. The packed home-opening weekend will conclude with a visit from the Wichita Thunder on Sunday, October 25.

The Mallards will be even busier on home ice the following month- they play nine home games in November, making that the Flock's busiest month of the season at the iWireless Center. The Mallards will play six home games in February, five in both January and March, four in each of December and April and three in October.

The Mallards, who will move to the ECHL's new Midwest Division next season, will play host to their division rivals- the Cincinnati Cyclones, Indy Fuel, Fort Wayne Komets and Evansville IceMen- a total of 16 times. The Cyclones will take the ice in the Quad Cities six times, more than any other foe. The Fuel will make five visits, the Komets three and the IceMen two. The Mallards will play 15 home games against other Western Conference opponents and five against clubs from the Eastern Conference.

On Sunday, November 15, the Mallards' rivalry with the Komets will be renewed in the Quad Cities for the first time since March of 2012. The Mallards have battled Fort Wayne in four different leagues- the United Hockey League, International Hockey League, Central Hockey League and ECHL- since the two teams first collided in 1999. Most memorably, the two clubs met in the 2003 UHL finals with the Komets taking the title. The IceMen make what will also be their first trip to Moline since March, 2012 on Wednesday, December 30. The Mallards first locked horns with Evansville as a member of the CHL in both 2010-11 and 2011-12.

The Mallards will also provide plenty of holiday action for the fans of the Quad Cities. After a Veterans' Day (Wednesday, November 11) match-up with the 2014 ECHL Kelly Cup champion Alaska Aces, the Mallards will be especially busy over Thanksgiving weekend, hosting the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday, November 27, the Cyclones on Saturday, November 28 and the Fuel on Sunday November 29. The Mallards will also see home ice action the day after Christmas as they welcome Indy on Saturday, December 26.  The Mallards will play their first game of 2016 against the Allen Americans on Saturday, January 2.

Their January 2 date with the Americans also kicks off one of the Mallards' two longest homestands of the season. That meeting with Allen is the first of four in a row at home for the Mallards, who will face Fort Wayne on Friday, January 8 and Sunday, January 10 before wrapping up that quartet on January 15 against Kalamazoo. The Mallards will enjoy another four game homestand between February 19 and February 27. The Mallards will duel with the Rapid City Rush in a two-game series Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20 before Cincinnati comes to town for a two-game set Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27.

The Mallards will see a healthy serving of action- eight home games in total- against longstanding rivals with whom they made the move from the CHL to the ECHL this season. The Rush, with whom the Mallards are currently locked in a tightly contested playoff series for the second straight year, will play four games in the Quad Cities next season. The first of those match-ups will be on Wednesday, February 3. The Oilers and Thunder will visit Moline three times each while the Mallards will play one home game against both Allen and the Missouri Mavericks (a Wednesday, November 4 tilt).

Among the 13 clubs the Mallards host next season, it will be Kalamazoo that will return after the longest absence. The Wings, who last played in the Quad Cities in March of 2007 while competing against the Mallards in the United Hockey League, will play their first ECHL road game against the Flock on November 27.

In contrast, next season will see four clubs- Indy, Alaska, the Utah Grizzlies and the Wheeling Nailers- make their first appearances in the Quad Cities. The Fuel will arrive for the first time on Sunday, November 22. The Aces visit the Mallards on both Veterans' Day and Friday, November 20 while the Nailers will play a two-game series on Friday, December 18 and Saturday, December 19. The Grizzlies play their lone game against the Mallards on Wednesday, March 2.

The Mallards will close out the 2015-16 regular season on home ice with a pair of potentially vital division tussles with Cincinnati on Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9.

Mallards 2015-16 season tickets are currently available and provide a significant savings off the walk-up ticket price along with a host of exclusive benefits. For more season ticket information, fans can contact the Mallards at 309-277-1364.

The Mallards play game four of their best-of-seven Central Division Semi-Final Kelly Cup playoff series with Rapid City on home ice tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. before hosting game five Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Should a sixth game be required, the series will shift back to Rapid City next Tuesday, April 28. If the series goes to a seventh game, the Rush would host the deciding contest next Wednesday, April 29.
