Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (April 20, 2015) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted outfielder Nolan Earley to the Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem Dash today. In a corresponding move, the Intimidators receive North Carolina native and outfielder James Baldwin from Extended Spring Training. The former Los Angeles Angels prospect spent the 2014 season with the Class A-Advanced Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
Earley, 24, opened the season by batting .318 (7-22) with a double, a triple, three RBI, and an on-base percentage of .423. The outfielder played just 19 games with Kannapolis in 2014 before an injury cut short his campaign. He hit .306 (22-72) with a home run and eight RBI in the South Atlantic League last season after making his professional debut with Advanced Rookie Bristol in 2013. The White Sox selected Earley in the 22nd round of the June 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of South Alabama.
Baldwin, 23, signed with the White Sox after spending the first five seasons of his professional career in the Angels organization. Los Angeles drafted the 6'3", 205-pound outfielder in the fourth round of the June 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Pinecrest (Southern Pines, N.C.) High School, which is located about 80 miles east of Kannapolis. Last season with the Quakes, Baldwin hit .217 with 14 home runs and 43 RBI in 112 games in the California League.
With the Class A Great Lakes Loons in the Midwest League in 2013, Baldwin appeared in 118 games, batting .238 with seven home runs and a career-high 49 RBI. The year before, also with the Loons, he swiped a career-high 53 bases while being caught stealing just eight times over 123 games. In 449 career minor league games, Baldwin has a .230 average with 40 home runs, 193 RBI, 162 stolen bases, and an on-base percentage of .309.
The Intimidators are in the middle of their first home stand of the season with games through Wednesday, April 22. For ticket and promotional information, call the F&M Bank Box Office at (704) 932-3267 or visit IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
