AMARILLO, TX - His leadership, character and hard work was one of the reasons why the Amarillo Bulls were able to make a second half push and nearly making it to the Robertson Cup playoffs. Now, Ben Jentsch gets to take all of those positive traits to the next level.

The Amarillo Bulls announced today (Monday) that Captain Ben Jentsch has commited to St. Thomas University Division III (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) located in St. Paul Minnesota. Former Bulls Alumni Chris Cass concluded his senior season at St. Thomas. The school was first in the MIAC this past year.

Jentsch said the school's record of success on the ice and positive words from several players on the roster about the program made it an easy decision.

"I'm really happy to be able to finally commit to a school," he said. "Once I visited the school and walked around, it solidified it for me right there. As soon as I got to the campus I knew it was a place I wanted to go and play."

Jentch, a native of Hartland, Wisconsin, played in 92 games for the Bulls in two seasons and collected five goals and added 11 assists for 16 points. He had 311 penalty minutes including 202 in 2014-15 season. The durable and rugged 6-1, 200 pound defenseman was part of a handful of returning players to the Bulls' roster and in the second half of the year was named the sixth team captain in franchise history.

"I think being a leader and a captain puts pressure on you to always be at your best with whatever you do," he said. "Having that role this year helped a lot."

Jentsch said he owes much of his success and the player he has become from the Bulls organization.

"I learned from the Amarillo Bulls that it takes hard work and dedication to get where you want to go," he commented. "The success doesn't come easy and if you work for it, you can get it."

Jentsch said the current and past Bulls coaching staff also contributed to helping him move on to the next level.

"Coaches Dennis Williams and Harry Mahood were two that made me the player I am today," he said. "This year's coaching staff of Jon Rogger and Mike Watt also had a role in helping me get to where I am."

Bulls Head Coach Jon Rogger is thrilled for Jentsch and his opportunity to play at St. Thomas University.

"Ben was a constant for us," Rogger said. "He was an overall strong hockey player who took care of the defensive zone and terrific on the penalty kill. Ben knew how to not only play tough and physical, but with tempo when he needed to."

When it became to being a leaders both on and off the ice, Rogger said Jentsch was up to task.

"Ben knew when to step up and when to say things," he explained. "He was also great at talking to players and his leadership and the qualities he brought to the team will not just be felt this past season but into next year as well."

Ben Jentsch joins

Cody Gylling is the third member of the 2014-15 Amarillo Bulls to announce NCAA College commitments joining Tristan Rostagno (Michigan Tech), and Connor Wood (University Alabama-Huntsville).
