Brett Doe joins Kernels from Extended Spring Training

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that catcher Brett Doe will join the Kernels from Extended Spring Training in Fort Myers, FL and that catcher J.J. Fernandez has been placed on the 7-day DL with a concussion. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

The Twins selected Doe in the 38th round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of Baylor University. Last season at Elizabethton, he hit .207 with a HR and five RBI in 23 games.

Fernandez has played in seven games for the Kernels this season, batting .293 with three doubles and four RBI. He was selected by the Twins in the 7th round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Colegio Hector Urdaneta HS in Puerto Rico.

Doe is active and available for today's 11:30 AM game at Burlington. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players with nine players currently on the DL and one player on the restricted list.

The Kernels continue a six game road trip today at 11:30 AM against the Burlington Bees. They return home on Friday, April 24th and open a three game home stand against the Kane County Cougars.
