Quad City Mallards News Release

RAPID CITY, SD - Dan Barczuk broke a 2-2 third period deadlock and the host Rapid City Rush went on to defeat t he Quad City Mallards 3-2 Friday night and even up the best-of-seven ECHL Central Division Semi-Finals at one win apiece.

Barczuk swept in what proved to be the winner from the left wing boards at 5:03 of the third.

The Mallards, who had spent most of the night battling from behind, could not produce a third period equalizer after Quad City's Joe Perry had twice tied the game in the second period. The Mallards were on the power play when Perry blasted the puck home from the right circle to even the score at one at 4:18 of the second. Brett Kostolansky put the Rush back on top 2-1 by chipping the puck in out of a scramble in the slot at 17:03 but Perry would reply just a minute and 33 seconds later with a shorthanded goal from the left wing circle.

Spencer Pommells had first given Rapid City the lead just a minute and 51 seconds into the game by jamming in a rebound from the side of the net.

The series shifts to the Quad Cities for game three next Wednesday night at 6:05 p.m. The Mallards will also host game four next Friday at 7:05 p.m. and game five next Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Should a sixth game be required, the series will move back to Rapid City on Tuesday, April 28.
