'Wolves Make It Five Straight, Move into First Place

The SeaWolves used timely hitting once again on Saturday night as they won their fifth straight game, taking down the Bowie Baysox 5-2 at Prince George's Stadium.

Bowie jumped ahead in the first against Erie starter Josh Turley. With two outs, Sean Halton and Mike McDade connected on back-to-back doubles to make it 1-0.

Erie got on the board in the third against Baysox starter Dylan Bundy. Harold Castro led off the inning with a single and he stole two bases to get to third. With two outs, Corey Jones doubled down the left field line, plating Castro, tying the game. Dean Green followed with an RBI knock down the right field line for a 2-1 lead.

Erie added to its lead in the fourth with more clutch two-out hitting. James Robbins led off with a double and came aroundd to score on a Castro base hit making it 3-1.

In the fifth, Brendan Harris and Jones each singled and with one out, Casper Wells made it 4-1 with an RBI single, plating Harris.

The 'Wolves added one more run in the eighth against reliever Gene Escat . Wells walks and Robbins singled putting two on for Austin Green. A wild pitch moved the runners up and Green lifted a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Wells for a 5-1 lead.

Bowie cut the lead down to three in the eighth against reliever Edgar De La Rosa. Halton led off with a single for his second hit of the night. He moved into scoring position on a two-out Chris O'Brien single. Halton scored on a Jason Esposito to make it 5-2.

De La Rosa worked a scoreless ninth, preserving the Erie win.

Turley (2-0) earned his second win in as many starts allowing a run on five hits with three walks and a strikeout in five innings of work.

The five-game winning streak is Erie's first since the club won five straight July 18-21, 2014. Erie has also won six of its past seven games.
