Quad City Mallards News Release

RAPID CITY, SD - Michael Clarke scored once and added an assist, Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel scored the third period power play game winner and Evan Mosher made 24 saves as the Quad City Mallards defeated the host Rapid City Rush 3-2 Friday night in the opener of the best-of-seven ECHL Central Division Semi-Finals.

The Mallards recovered to win after Rapid City's Michael Young buried the game's first shot to give the Rush the lead just 29 seconds into the first period.

The Mallards bounced back to tie the game at one when rookie Clarke scored his first career goal in his second game (regular season or playoffs) from close range at 4:20 of the second. Just over four minutes later rookie Liam Stewart, who was making his professional debut, gave the Mallards their first lead by sweeping his first career goal home from the left wing circle.

Cody Ferriero's point blank power play goal knotted the game at two for Rapid City at 14:03 of the second but it was the Mallards who were up a man when Dieude-Fauvel one timed the winner from the top of the right wing circle at 6:23 of the third period.

The Rush pressed hard for an equalizer after first going on a late power play and then pulling goaltender Danny Battochio to go up 6-on-5 with just over a minute left but the superb Mosher protected the Mallard lead down the stretch.

The Mallards and Rush meet again tomorrow night in game two in Rapid City. The Mallards return home for game three next Wednesday, April 22 at 6:05 p.m. and game four next Friday, April 24 at 7:05 p.m. If a fifth game is necessary, it will be played next Saturday night, April 25 at 7:05 p.m. at the iWireless Center. Should a sixth game be required, the series will shift back to Rapid City on Tuesday, April 28. If the series goes to a seventh game, the Rush would host the deciding contest on Wednesday, April 29.
