DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers (2-3) are set to host the Nebraska Danger (5-1) on Saturday, April 18th. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT at Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. The game will be available live on Mediacom MC22 and 822 HD, WHO 1040 AM, and online via IFLLive.tv .
Last week, the Iowa Barnstormers hosted their home opener versus the Green Bay Blizzard. After a whirling first quarter, the Barnstormers controlled the remainder of the game and swept the victory 75-64. Quarterback Robbie Nallenweg led the Iowa offense completing 19 of 28 passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns, including one rushing touchdown. The Barnstormers defense never allowed Green Bay to lead the game in part to linebacker Javicz Jones' five solo tackles and five assists. This Week 7 matchup marked the highest scoring IFL game of the 2015 season.
Most recently, the Nebraska Danger met up with the Cedar Rapids Titans where a second half rally led the team to victory, 52-42. An influential playmaker, Danger QB Jameel Sewell performed with 54% accuracy and collected 204 passing yards for five touchdowns. On the ground, Sewell also led the team's rushing game with 47 yards for two touchdowns. Leading receiver Kayne Farquharson grabbed three touchdown passes for 112 yards.
This week's matchup between the Barnstormers and the Danger could come down to a quarterback battle. Two of the top quarterbacks in the League, Nallenweg currently leads the IFL in passing yards and holds second in passing touchdowns (21) while Sewell continues to be a threat to defenses across the League. Iowa's Jones and Nebraska's Farquharson were both recognized with League honors after their Week 7 performances. Saturday's matchup will be the final of two meetings between the Barnstormers and the Nebraska.
