ONTARIO, Calif. -The Colorado Eagles (1-0-0-0) used two goals from forward Darryl Bootland and three points from teammate Nathan Moon to take Game One on the road against the Ontario Reign (0-1-0-0) Thursday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

In his first game back in nearly a month, Moon made his presence known just 3:19 into the first period as he hammered home his own rebound to put the Eagles up 1-0. In front of a silenced crowd, Colorado capitalized on the early momentum. Bootland was all alone on the goal line on the power play before curling around and sniping the Eagles into a 2-0 lead with 7:49 remainingin the first.

The Eagles picked up right where they left off to start the second, as forward Chris Duszynski recorded his first professional playoff goal 4:05 into the second, putting the Eagles up 3-0. Seven minutes later, Bootland was parked in his favorite spot on the doorstep when teammate Trent Daavettila fed him the puck, as Bootland did the rest to put the Eagles ahead 4-0 on the five-on-three power play. The Reign managed to find their way onto the score sheet with 2:19 left in the second on a point shot from defenseman Alex Roach, which snuck past a screened Eagles netminder, Clarke Saunders.

With their goalie pulled and 2:40 remaining in the contest, the Reign crept closer with a goal from defenseman Matt Register, making the score 4-2.

After a furious attack from the Reign, Saunders stopped 27 of Ontario's 29 shots and the Eagles stood strong, taking the early 1-0 series lead. The two teams will face off again tomorrow in Ontario at 7:00pm for Game Two.
