When the RockHounds packed up for their first road trip of the season, the luggage included a four-game losing streak. The 'Hounds jettisoned the "excess baggage" Thursday night with an 8-3 win over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in Springdale, Arkansas.
A 12-hit attack included Matt Olson's third home run of the season, with Olson, Colin Walsh and Bruce Maxwell each driving in a pair of runs.
The 'Hounds held a 2-0 lead entering the fifth, when Chad Pinder singled on an 0-2 pitch to open the inning. Olson followed, ripping Ali Williams' 3-1 delivery over the right field fence. A pair of walks and a single then re-fueled the rally, with Maxwell's bases-loaded walk and a double play ball extending the lead to 6-0.
Ethan Chapman got Northwest Arkansas on the board in the home half of the fifth with a two-run home run, and Angel Franco's RBI brought the Naturals to within 6-3. The 'Hounds fired right back, scoring twice in the sixth on a Ryon Healy RBI double and Walsh's third hit of the game, a single to right scoring Healy.
