Houchins Helps Bees Snap Skid

(Appleton-WI)-The Burlington Bees' got the bats going with the help of Zach Houchins, who went 2-for-4 with a double and a homer, defeating the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 6-4 at Neuroscience Group Field in Appleton.

Wisconsin threatened first, loading the bases in the bottom the second. Jeremy Rhoades was able to get Luis Aviles to pop out in foul ground, to leave the bases loaded.

Timber Rattlers' starter Zach Hirsch, retired the first ten hitters he faced, setting the Bees down in order. Caleb Adams broke the string, with a triple with one out in the fourth. Andrew Daniel gave the Bees the lead with a double down the right field line, putting the Bees on top 1-0. After Daniel was caught trying to steal third, Zach Houchins sent a solo homer over the left field wall, doubling the Bees' lead to 2-0.

Wisconsin put runners at the corners with one out in the bottom of the fourth. Jake Jewell came into the game and after Luis Aviles was caught stealing, Monte Harrison struckout swinging, stranding a runner at third.

Dustin DeMuth led off the bottom of the fifth with a singe and then scored on a David Denson two run blast to centerfield, tying the game up at two.

Zach Houchins brought the Bees' bats back to life with a lead off double in the top of the seventh. After a Fran Whitten single placed runners at the corners, Wade Wass grounded to second and underneath the glove of Aviles, scoring Houchins, giving the Bees the lead back at 3-2.

Later in the inning, Natanael Delgado singled to left, scoring Whitten, giving the Bees a 4-2 lead. Jake Yacinich doubled the Bees' lead with a double to left, scoring Wass and Delgado, making the score 6-2.

Wisconsin cut the Bees' lead to two with RBI hits by Jake Gatewood and Dustin DeMuth, making the score 6-4.

Eduardo Paredes nailed down the win, thowing a scoreless ninth inning, as the Bees ended a three game losing streak with a 6-4 win.

Bees' reliever Jake Jewell (1-0) earned the win as Wisconsin reliever, Josh Uhen (0-1) was charged with the loss. Eduardo Paredes (1) picked up the save.

The Bees and the Timber Rattlers wrap up their three game series tomorrow night at 6:35 at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Keynan Middleton takes the ball for the Bees against David Burkhalter and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
