Idaho Takes Game 1 in Overtime After Grizzlies Battle Back Down 2-0 Early

Boise, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads scored 5:49 into overtime to defeat the Utah Grizzlies 3-2 Wednesday night at CenturyLink Arena to open the first round playoff series.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first period with two goals 2:54 apart at 9:36 and 12:30, the Grizzlies and Bobkov then went 53:19 without allowing a goal as Utah would come back to tie.
Brenden Walker made it 2-1 with 3:08 left in the first period as he blasted a slapshot on the power-play on a great setup by Ryan Hayes. T.J. Syner also picked up an assist.
Utah goaltender Igor Bobkov stopped 38 of 41 shots in the contest, including 19 in the second period to keep the contest 2-1 and give the Grizzlies a chance to tie in the third period.
The 2-1 score stood for 30 minutes and 39 seconds.
The Grizzlies tied the game in the third as Danick Paquette rolled the puck in front as he grinded down low and tied the game 7:31 into the final frame.
Utah killed a late penalty and got two more spectacular Bobkov saves to force overtime.
The Grizzlies went 5-for-5 on the penalty-kill in the game to stay in it and went 1-for-4 on the power-play.
The Grizzlies host Idaho Friday and Saturday at Maverik Center as games two and three of the series shift to Utah. Face-Off both nights is at 7 p.m.
