Cougars Hand Bees' Second Straight Loss

(Burlington-IA) Stryker Trahan came off the bench in the eighth inning to deliver a two run double, pushing the Kane County Cougars past the Burlington Bees, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon at Community Field.

Kane County opened the scoring in the third. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Marty Herum grounded out, scoring Sergio Alcantara, putting the Cougars on top 1-0.

The Cougars added to their lead in the fourth, thanks to a Bees' error. With a runner on second, Jake Yacinich couldn't corral a grounder, scoring Jose Queliz.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Fran Whitten was hit by a pitch and then came around to score when Zach Houchins doubled to left, cutting the defect to 2-1. The Next hitter, Natanael Delgado, doubled to the opposite field, bringing in Houchins, tying the game at two.

Jake Yacinich led off the bottom of the fifth with a double, and later came home to score on a fielders' choice, grounded into by Andrew Daniel, giving the Bees a 3-2 lead.

Kane County came back in the eighth inning, with two on board, Styker Trahan pinch hit and ripped a double down the right field line, giving Kane County the eventual final score of 4-3.

Cougar's reliever, Bud Jeter (1-0) picked up the win, Tyler Carpenter (0-1) was charged with the loss, and Zac Curtis notched the save.

The Bees head to Appleton, Wisconsin, to start a three game series with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, tomorrow night at 6:35.
