Lamoureux Signs P.T.O. with Charlotte, Mallards Set Playoff Roster

MOLINE, Ill. (April 14, 2015) - Quad City Mallards forward Mario Lamoureux has signed a professional tryout agreement with the American Hockey League's Charlotte Checkers, the Mallards announced today. Lamoureux will still be eligible for ECHL Kelly Cup playoff duty for the Mallards, who also announced their postseason roster today.

Lamoureux, 26, finished the regular season fifth in the ECHL in assists (51) and tied for eleventh in points (71). Lamoureux scored 20 goals in 68 games after joining the Mallards in an early season trade with the Ontario Reign. The 5' 9", 185-pound Grand Forks, North Dakota, native led the Mallards in power play points (21) and finished tied for the team lead in plus/minus rating (+15).

Lamoureux finished the regular season on a high by recording nine points (two goals and seven assists) in his final six games.

Lamoureux returns to the AHL with the Checkers after earlier this season scoring his first career AHL goal in a two game stint with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Lamoureux got his first taste of AHL action when he played three games with the Oklahoma City Barons last season. Lamoureux's is the fifteenth AHL call-up for a Mallard this season.

Lamoureux scored 20 goals and totaled 40 points in 46 games with Ontario last season. He also played four games in Austria with Villacher SV, for whom he produced one goal and one assist.

Lamoureux was named to the 2012-13 ECHL All-Rookie Team after scoring 25 times and notching 65 points in 71 games for the Reign. He broke into the professional ranks at the tail end of the 2011-12 season when he skated in two games with the Gwinnett Gladiators.

Lamoureux played college hockey in his home town for perennial power North Dakota. UND qualified for the NCAA tournament each of Lamoureux's four seasons and in 2011 reached the Frozen Four. He also helped North Dakota to three consecutive Western Collegiate Hockey Association tournament titles and a pair of conference regular season crowns. Lamoureux scored 17 goals and produced 29 assists to register 46 points in 157 career collegiate games.

The Mallards' active playoff roster is comprised of 19 players. The Mallards will also begin the playoffs with two players- Lamoureux and defenseman Nicholas Rioux, who is currently with the AHL's Iowa Wild- on the playoff eligible list who will be available to play in the postseason for the Mallards should they return to the club. Two more- forwards Paxton Leroux and Logan Nelson- are on the team's reserve list and are eligible to be moved to the active roster.

The Mallards' playoff roster is comprised of forwards Kevin Baker, Michael Clarke, Anthony Collins, Pearce Eviston, Justin Fox, Jeff Lee, Matt Neal, Joe Perry and Liam Stewart; defensemen Jake Baker, Austin Coldwell, Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, Matt Duffy, Darren McMillan and Mike Monfredo; forwards/defensemen Jannik Christensen and Nick Grasso; and goaltenders Parker Milner and Evan Mosher.

The Mallards head to Rapid City Friday and Saturday for games one and two of their best-of-seven Central Division Semi-Final series against the Rush. The Mallards return home for game three on Wednesday, April 22 at 6:05 p.m. and game four on Friday, April 24 at 7:05 p.m. If a fifth game is necessary, it will be played on Saturday night, April 25 at 7:05 p.m. at the iWireless Center. Should a sixth game be required, the series will shift back to Rapid City on Tuesday, April 28. If the series goes to a seventh game, the Rush would host the deciding contest on Wednesday, April 29.
