Harrisburg Senators News Release
Despite more solid pitching, the Senators were not able to support their staff in a 2-1 loss to the Bowie Baysox Monday night at Metro Bank Park. The 2-1 loss is the third of its kind this season for Harrisburg (2-3) in five games.
Matt Swynenberg's first start of the 2015 season was successful as he allowed just two runs on two hits in six innings of work. Swynenberg shutout Bowie in the first four innings, but allowed a single and a two-run homer in the top of the fifth. Derek Self held the Baysox in check with two scoreless frames. Gilberto Mendez pitched a scoreless ninth for Harrisburg.
The extent of Harrisburg's scoring came on a solo home run by Kevin Keyes in the bottom of the seventh inning. Keyes finished the night 2-for-4 as he singled in the ninth as well. Harrisburg had just four hits, including one by Tony Renda to extend his hit streak to five games. Ricky Hague also singled for the Senators.
