Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in the first game of a three-game series from Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). Today's game also opens up a seven-game homestand with Lehigh Valley coming to town on Thursday for four contests. The Herd is coming off a 1-1 series split over the weekend in Rochester.
vs. the Red Sox
The Bisons have not won a season series against Pawtucket since going 10-6 against the PawSox in 2008. Last season, Pawtucket won seven of the last nine contests for the 10-6 series win. The Bisons and PawSox did split the eight games that were played at Coca-Cola Field.
Chad Jenkins
RHP CHAD JENKINS makes his 2015 debut tonight. The righty made 21 appearances for both Buffalo and Toronto last year, being promoted to the Blue Jays on six different occasions. Jenkins made four starts last season for the Herd, including a complete-game rained-shortened victory in Pawtucket in the second game of a doubleheader, April 19 (5.0 IP, 3 H, R, 2 SO).
Shutouts
Buffalo and Rochester traded 2-0 shutouts over the weekend with the Herd getting its first win of the season on Sunday. The Bisons were 6-12 in shutouts a season ago, including a 1-0 loss to Pawtucket on April 19(1). The Bisons are just 21-49 in shutout games since 2011, the worst mark in the International League.
Ryan Goins
The first Bisons' hit streak of the young season belongs to INF RYAN GOINS. Goins has a knock in each of the first three games this year with a .364 average (4-11) and an RBI. Goins has three hits in six at-bats (.500) with runners on base this year.
Bisons Bits
RHP GREGORY INFANTE has allowed just two hits and two walks to the 34 batters he's faced in a Bisons uniform. Triple-A opponents are hitting just .063 against him with Buffalo...OF CHRIS DICKERSON reached base four times yesterday with two hits and two walks. He sports a .500 on-base percentage. RHP BOBBY KORECKY recorded his 23rd career Bisons save yesterday, T7th-most in the modern era.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (4-2) closed out their season-opening roadtrip with another series win. Toronto took two of three in Baltimore thanks to a 10-7 win on Sunday. Former Bisons' OF Dalton Pompey and OF Kevin Pillar each homered. Toronto's home opener is tonight against Tampa Bay (7:07 p.m.).
