Sunday Afternoon Victory for Rome
April 12, 2015 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Rome Braves took the final game of the four game series 3-2 over the Asheville Tourists Sunday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium in front of 2,001 fans.
It was Rome's first win of the season.
The Braves took a 2-0 lead in the second when Ozzy Albies stroked a two out, two run single giving Rome the lead. Asheville cut the lead in half with a run in the third on an errant pick- off attempt by Alec Glosser allowing Kevin Padlo to cross the plate. The Braves added a much needed insurance run in the fifth on an RBI groundout by Jordan Edgerton for the 3-1 lead. The Tourists added a run in the eighth but Rome's bullpen did the job and held the lead for the 3-2 final.
Carlos Salazar gets the win (1-0) and Carlos Polanco (0-2) the loss. Jorge Zavala is credited with the save.
The Braves and Savannah Sand Gnats begin a three game series tomorrow evening at seven. For information contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
