Bowie Baysox News Release

Baysox starter Branden Kline overpowered Richmond with his mid-90's fastball, striking out ten of 20 batters faced to earn his first league win in a Baysox 2-1 win Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Baysox split the series with Richmond.

Bowie grabbed the early lead for Kline. CF Glynn Davis led the game off with a groundball double down the right field line. One pitch later he was home as LF Mike Yastrzemski slashed a single to right-center to put Bowie atop, 1-0.

In the fourth inning, the Baysox added to their lead. DH Sean Halton led off the inning with a single. With one down, Halton was running on a 3-2 pitch and 2B Derrik Gibson lined a double down the right field line. Halton scored standing and the Baysox were up 2-0.

The Baysox were able to take over on the hill after that. Kline worked five innings, Andrew Triggs then entered for two scoreless frames. The Flying Squirrels scratched home a run against reliever Ben Rowen making his Orioles organizational debut before Mychal Givens entered.

Givens registered his second save in 16 hours in the ninth inning. After a pop fly double down the right field line led off the inning by Devin Harris, Givens struck out three consecutive batters to close out the Bowie win. Baysox pitchers struck out 14 batters in the game and 50 batters in the four-game series.

Bowie now heads to Harrisburg after their series split for three games with the Senators. The first of which is Monday, April 13th at 6:30 p.m. with RHP Dylan Bundy getting his first start of the year. Coverage begins 20-minutes before first pitch on 1430wnav.com and the Tune-In Radio App with the Trunnell Law Pre-Game Show.
