IceCaps Thump Bears

St. John's IceCaps News Release
One night after a tough loss to the Hershey Bears, the St. John's IceCaps stormed back Saturday with a dominant 5-1 win at Mile One Centre.
Patrice Cormier and Scott Kosmachuk each had a goal and an assist and Eric Comrie picked up his first professional win with a 21-save performance. Brenden Kichton and Will O'Neill both notched a pair of assists.
The IceCaps were rock solid on the penalty kill, finishing the night 7-of-8 in a chippy affair as they snapped a six-game winless skid.
The teams traded goals in the first as Chase Balisy scored just after an IceCaps power play on a shot from the right circle before Jim O'Brien equalled things up off the rush on a Hershey man advantage.
In the second, the IceCaps forged ahead on a power play tally by Cormier, who extended his scoring streak to three games when he beat Phoenix Copley in tight to make it 2-1.
Late in the frame St. John's potted a couple of goals to blow it open. Lipon followed a solo dash by Ben Walker and buried a loose puck past Copley. Then, just eight seconds later, Kosmachuk beat two Hershey defenders on a dump in and slammed home his 14th of the season to put the home team up 4-1 heading into the third.
Julien Brouillette added a power play marker with 18 seconds left in the game as St. John's clamped down in the third period to secure the victory and earn the series split.
The IceCaps wrap up the 2014-15 regular season next weekend with a pair of games Friday and Saturday vs. the Springfield Falcons at Mile One (7:30 p.m. NDT).
