Peterborough Petes News Release

(Peterborough, ON)- The Peterborough Petes are excited to announce that they have selected Zach Gallant from the Mississauga Rebels in the first round, fifth overall in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection presented by State Farm.

Gallant, a 6'2", 175lbs centre, played for the Mississauga Rebels minor midget AAAs in 2014/15. In 62 games played, he recorded 24 goals, 34 assists, 58 points and 95 penalty minutes. He also suited up for the gold medal-winning Team Ontario U16 men's team as an Assistant Captain at the 2015 Canada Winter Games, scoring two goals, three assists, five points and six penalty minutes in six games, including a goal and an assist in the championship game.

"Zach is a big centre that skates very well - he is on top of you before you know it," added OHL Central Scouting. "He is always working and moving his feet."

Zach will arrive in Peterborough at noon and will take part in a press conference at the conclusion of the fifth round. He will be joined by other players selected by the Petes in the first five rounds of the Priority Selection.

Zach's uncle Don Gallant played for the Verdun Juniors from 1982-1984, winning a QMJHL championship and playing in the 1983 Memorial Cup.
