Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders are looking for their first win this season after falling to the Arkansas Travelers 8-4 in game two of the 2015 campaign. For the second straight night the Arkansas offense wrested control of the contest against the Frisco bullpen in the middle innings.

With the Riders (0-2) holding a slim 2-1 lead in the fourth inning, the Travelers notched the equalizer and then loaded the bases against Kyle Lotzkar. Former Baylor Bear Cal Towey slammed the first pitch he saw to the right field wall to clear the bases and give Arkansas (2-0) a 5-2 advantage.

Frisco out-hit the Travs 14 to 11, but went just 4 for 20 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11 men on base. The teams traded runs in the later innings but Frisco could not get closer than the final score.

Lotzkar (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing four runs in 1.1 innings while Arkansas starter Albert Suarez (1-0) went five strong innings (eight hits, two runs) for the victory.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first, Frisco evened the score in the bottom of the frame as Jake Skole crossed the plate on a fielder's choice. Guilder Rodriguez gave the Riders the lead in the second inning on an RBI single to score Drew Robinson.

Frisco starting pitcher Andrew Faulkner saw his evening come to an end after 2.2 innings pitched. Faulkner finished with one earned run, two strikeouts on 72 pitches.

Frisco produced 12 hits, five of which were doubles, but left 11 Riders on base during the game. Second baseman Drew Robinson walked three times in the game and scored. Left fielder Nick Williams went three for four with two doubles, scoring once.

The RoughRiders look to avoid the sweep on Saturday. Rockwall, Texas right-hander Jake Thompson gets the nod for the Riders and left-hander Tyler DeLoach takes the mound for the Travelers. Saturday the Riders, and team dog Brooks, host their first-ever Bark in the Park Night. Fans with grass berm tickets may bring man's best friend to the 7:05 p.m. game.
