LOVELAND, Colo. -The Colorado Eagles (41-22-4-4) couldn't hold the power play of the Utah Grizzlies (36-27-5-3), falling 3-2 in overtime Friday night at the Budweiser Events Center.

Colorado would start the scoring tonight just over ten minutes into the contest on the shorthand as forward Brock Nixon came streaking down the left wing, racing past his opposition and beating Utah goaltender Igor Bobkov low to give the Eagles the 1-0 advantage. On their third power play of the first period, Utah would even the score on a shot from just outside the crease from forward Mathieu Aubin, beating Eagles netminder Clarke Saunders high with 3:35 left in the first.

The Eagles regained the lead with 9:25 elapsed in the second as forward Chris Knowlton buried his fifth goal in four games on a perfect pass from teammate Kyle Kraemer on the power play. Utah found a way to tie the game up for the second period in a row, with forward Cam Wojtala scoring on an awkward bounce past Saunders.

After a scoreless third period, the two squads headed to overtime with Utah on the man-advantage once again. 18 seconds into the extra frame, Utah forward Brenden Walker was the beneficiary of a series of deflections, and flung home the game winning goal into an effectively empty net.

Colorado has one last tune-up tomorrow night against Utah before heading into the post season, which will begin on Thursday, April 16 against the Ontario Reign.
