Columbus Crew SC News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Columbus Crew SC (1-2-1, 4 points) concludes a two-match road trip by traveling to face the New England Revolution (2-2-1, 7 points) at Gillette Stadium tomorrow, April 11 at 3:00 p.m. ET. Time Warner Cable SportsChannel is televising the game, with Dwight Burgess and Neil Sika on the call. Additionally, "Crew SC Matchday" airs on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel at 2:30 p.m. ET, and "Crew SC Post-Match" immediately follows the action. The match is being broadcast with simulcast audio on CD102.5 FM, and Juan Valladares is set to be behind the microphone for La Mega 103.1 FM.
Tomorrow's match is the 64th all-time regular-season meeting between Columbus and New England, both original clubs in Major League Soccer. Crew SC holds a 31-21-11 record against New England all-time, including a 14-13-5 mark in Foxborough. The Black & Gold won two of the three regular-season meetings between the clubs last year, including a 2-1 victory at Gillette Stadium on July 26 when Ethan Finlay's 84th-minute tally broke a 1-1 tie to give the Black & Gold a win.
This match is the second of two contests as part of a cross-continent road trip that saw Crew SC draw 2-2 at Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Wednesday. It is also the first of two meetings this season between the Black & Gold and New England, with a future match-up to take place on June 24 at MAPFRE Stadium.
In Vancouver, forward Kei Kamara notched two goals to bring his season total to three and his all-time MLS total to 55. It was the Sierra Leone native's seventh brace in MLS, and his first since August 10, 2013, when he accomplished the feat as a member of Sporting Kansas City against New England. Kamara is among a group of seven players tied for second in the League in goal-scoring. Among players with more than one appearance, the forward is tied for fourth in MLS in goals/match (0.75).
As a team, Crew SC continues to lead MLS in shots/match, firing in 17.3 attempts on goal per contest (69 shots in four matches played). That mark leads the League by 1.6 shots/match ahead of Vancouver Whitecaps FC, which has registered 15.7 per outing. Individually, Kamara leads MLS in the shots-per-match category, having notched 5.3 attempts per contest (21 over four matches played). Teammate Justin Meram ranks third in the League with a total of 4.5 shots/match.
