Oshawa Generals News Release

Oshawa, ON - Generals captain and defenceman Josh Brown has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Brown was drafted in the sixth round (152nd overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Brown has played with the Generals for all four years of his Ontario Hockey League (OHL) career. He is a leader for the team, and has been the captain for both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 season.

The London, Ontario native is known for his size, physicality and stay-at-home defensive style of play. He has managed to put up 53 points in 230 OHL games, including four goals and 17 assists this season alone.

"I know Josh didn't want this to be done during the playoffs and asked us about it. He didn't want it to be a distraction. This is too big for Josh and his family. It's a hockey lifetime of work to get signed in the NHL," says Oshawa Generals General Manager, Roger Hunt. "The Oshawa Generals couldn't be more proud of Josh. He started and ended his OHL career as a General."

The Oshawa Generals congratulate Brown on signing with the Panthers and will keep fans updated on his hockey journey.
