TIGERS FAST FACTS:
Medicine Hat has been perfect on the penalty kill in this series, killing off 9 straight Red Deer opportunities With the victory Marek Langhamer is the WHL Playoff goaltending leader with a 1.45 GAA and 0.955 SV % Cole Sanford is riding a 5 game point streak dating back to the final regular season home game Tigers goaltender Marek Langhamer has started the last 12 of 13 games for Medicine Hat, posting 3 shutouts in that span
LAST GAME: In Game 4 of this series, fans were treated to goals, something we haven't seen in the three previous games. The Rebels opening the scoring when Haydn Fleury wristed a shot past Langhamer, but the Tigers came back with 20 seconds left in the first period, Cole Sanford wristed a shot of his own past a screen Rylan Toth. The middle period saw two goals for the Tigers, Trevor Cox and Steven Owre netted goals 7 minutes apart to extend the lead to 3-1 through 40 minutes. Langhamer was stellar in net but was very busy in the final 20 minutes stopping 20 of 22 shots. The Tigers would give him some more support burying a goal just a minute in as Dryden Hunt was sprung on a breakaway making it 4-1. The Rebels would get 2 in the period but the Tigers sealed it with an empty netter to win 5-3.
DEPTH: Even though this series has not seen much scoring the Tigers are filled with goal scorers and it showed on Thursday night when Medicine Hat got 5 different goal scorers including Dryden Hunt. Hunt was brought in for the playoff run and to give the Tigers another weapon up front along with Trevor Cox and Cole Sanford. Hunt delivered in the regular season and finally found the back of the net, after many chances in the games previous. Look for the Tigers depth to continue to shine in the games to come.
