PEORIA - The Peoria Rivermen fired out to an early three-goal lead and held the Louisiana IceGators to only two second-period shots on the way to a 4-0 win on Friday at Carver Arena in Game 2 of the Southern Professional Hockey League President's Cup Playoffs first round. The Rivermen victory forces a third and deciding game back at Carver Arena on Saturday night at 7:05.

The Rivermen struck first 7:49 into the game on a Mike Gurtler redirect of a Jason Cohen shot from the high slot also assisted by Alex Hudson on a power play. Peoria tallied just 1:41 later on an Alec Hagaman wrister from the right circle assisted by Gurtler and Nick Schneider, and increased the lead to 3-0 going to the first intermission on slick power play cycle feeds from Gurtler and Josh Harris to set up a back door blast from the lower left circle by Jake Trask with 7:05 remaining in the period.

Peoria sealed the victory with 40.7 seconds remaining in regulation with another power play goal as Matt Summers corralled the puck at the doorstep and after a move, chipped a tally at the right post on assists from Steve Morra and Cohen.

Kyle Rank earned a 21-save shutout while Scott Diebold sustained the loss with 31 saves. The Rivermen were 3-for-7 on power plays while the IceGators were scoreless in four advantages.

Tickets for Saturday's deciding game start at $10 and are available Saturday through the Rivermen office and after 12:00 at the Peoria Civic Center box office. The game can be heard in Carver Arena on 93.7 FM and worldwide at www.rivermen.net and viewed via subscription at SPHLLive.com.
