IceDogs Break Serve, Take 3-2 Lead in Series vs. 67's

OTTAWA - If the Ottawa 67's want to take a positive out of a Friday night's result at TD Place, it's that a visiting team can actually win on the road in this Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference playoff series.

After each team won the first two games at home (Ottawa the first two and Niagara the second pair), the IceDogs broke serve on 67's home ice by an 8-3 count, forcing the 67's into a must-win scenario on Sunday in St. Catharines to stay alive in the 2015 playoffs.

The 67's need a win on Sunday to force a seventh and deciding game back at TD Place, which would take place on Tuesday.

At first, Ottawa appeared poised to keep the home-ice advantage alive and well in this series by taking an early lead on Jeremiah Addison's sixth goal in this set.

But the IceDogs tied it late in the opening frame, then scored three times in the span of 2:46 in the second to chase Liam Herbst out of the 67's net.

Ottawa got back into the game on goals from captain Travis Konecny and rookie Travis Barron, who scored his first OHL playoff goal, before the end of the second.

Konecny suffered an unspecified injury in the middle period and did not play the third period.

The IceDogs took control early in the final period on a goal by Jordan Maletta and a shorthanded marker by Brendan Perlini, who scored the overtime winner in St. Catharines on Wednesday.
