IceDogs Take 3-2 Series Lead

The Niagara IceDogs took a 3-2 series lead with a huge 8-3 win over the Ottawa 67's in game five Friday night in Ottawa.

Jeremiah Addison got the 67's on the board first, with a goal at 4:33 of the opening frame. Carter Verhaeghe tied it up at 1-1 with less than two minutes left in the first period, with his second goal of the playoffs.

Brendan Perlini scored his third of the playoffs when he converted a nice pass by Verhaeghe to make it 2-1. Just 19 seconds later, Anthony DiFruscia made it 3-1 with his second of the playoffs, before Mikkel Aagaard made it 4-1 to make it three goals in less than three minutes for the IceDogs. Travis Konecny and Travis Barron scored 12 second apart to make it 4-3.

Jordan Maletta scored a huge goal 2:05 into the third period to make it 5-3, before Perlini's second of the game gave the IceDogs a 6-3 lead. Graham Knott added an empty netter and Billy Jenkins added a late tally as the IceDogs beat the 67's 8-3 and move within one win of the second round.

Game six at the Meridian Centre is Sunday afternoon at 2pm. Get your tickets and cheer on your IceDogs as they try to move on to the Eastern Conference Semifinals!
