Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators are proud to announce that Mike Sdao has been named the team's winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Binghamton community during the 2014-15 season.

Sdao is always willing to help out in the Binghamton community. He is a fan-favorite who is happy to interact with the B-Sens fans whether it is at a community event, a season ticket holder party, after a game or practice, or just in the general public.

As he enters into his third season with the Binghamton Senators, Sdao has participated in many community service events including B-Sens and Magic Paintbrush Project's Paint with the Players, YMCA Floor Hockey programs, helping with Toys for Tots, and many more. He recently took the initiative to bring Hockey Players 4 Kids' Stick to Reading program to the Broome County Area schools. With several other players accompanying him, Sdao visited local classrooms to read to local students and stress the importance of reading education.

Sdao is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL's 2014-15 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League later this month.
