"With the success of the Charlotte 49ers game on Tuesday, we want to showcase another Charlotte-based collegiate program to open the ballpark on Monday afternoon," stated Knights Chief Operating Officer Dan Rajkowski. "We hope to see a great crowd in Uptown Charlotte on Monday as we near the start to another spectacular season at BB&T Ballpark just a few days later."

The Davidson Wildcats are in their first year in the Atlantic 10 Conference and are currently 13-10 this season. The team, which heads to Rhode Island this weekend for a three-game series starting on Friday, is coming off the program's winningest season after going 29-19 last year and finishing second in the Southern Conference. The Wildcats are led by head coach Dick Cooke, who is in his 25th season at the helm. He was named the 2014 Southern Conference Coach of the Year. Cooke played three seasons of professional baseball in the Boston Red Sox Minor League system from 1979 to 1981. He has also worked with USA Baseball, serving as an auxiliary coach at the 2000 Olympic Games and 2008 Olympic Games.

"We are very excited and pleased that the Charlotte Knights reached out to us for an exhibition game Monday afternoon," stated Davidson Wildcats Coach Dick Cooke. "We hope they find it helpful in their preparation for Opening Night Thursday (April 9) and it will definitely be a great experience for us. It works out perfectly for our schedule and it is always a great opportunity to play extra games throughout the year."

The Knights will officially open the 2015 regular season on Thursday, April 9 with a 7:05 p.m. game against the Norfolk Tides. The Opening Night game is the first Thirsty Thursday ™ game of the season, courtesy of Hickory Tavern.
