Amarillo Bulls Alumni Part of Trinity National Championship Team

AMARILLO, TX - Ryan Cole and TJ Sherman won their second national championship in three years on Saturday night.

The two along with former Bulls defenseman Sam Johnson powered Trinity College Bantams to the NCAA Division III National Championship with a 5-2 win over Wisconsin Stevens Point. Cole and Sherman were members of the Amarillo Bulls Robertson Cup National Championship team in 2013.

The trio of Bulls Alumni faced Wisconsin Steven Point coached by former Amarillo Rattlers forward Chris Brooks.

Ryan Cole assisted on the first Trinity Cole while his brother Brandon was involved in the offence of the third goal. The Bantams advanced with a 5-3 triumph over Adrian the night prior in the National Semi-Final. Cole netted the fifth and what proved to be the insurance goal for Trinity College.

Cole, who hails from Anchorage, Alaska was not only nominated for NCAA Division III player of the year and was named Division III East first team All-American.

One former Amarillo Bulls forward remains alive for an NCAA Division I title as Providence is headed to the Frozen Four in Boston. Brooks Behling has appeared in 14 games for Providence this season and notched two goals and two assists for four points.

Meanwhile, one of the first senior Bulls Alumni has made the transition from College to the Professional ranks. Cody Freeman who had a solid career with Canisius College signed a professional contract with the Evansville Icemen of the ECHL. The Toronto, Ontario Canada native appeared in his first professional game over the weekend scoring for the Icemen.

In four years at Canisius College, Freeman played in 130 games and notched 33 goals and 42 assists for 75 points.
