Kevin Genoe named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (March 31, 2015) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Kevin Genoe of the Huntsville Havoc is the Easton Player of the Week for March 23-29.

Genoe went 1-1-0 with a 1.53 goals against average, a .966 save percentage and one shutout.

On Tuesday, the Qualicum Beach, BC native made 33 saves as Pensacola rallied with a pair of third period goals to defeat the Havoc 3-2. Genoe came back on Saturday with a performance for the record books as he stopped all 51 shots in a 2-0 win over Columbus. His 51 saves was the third-highest total for a shutout in SPHL history. Jacksonville's AJ Bucchino set the record on November 15, 2007, making 56 saves in a 4-0 win over Columbus. Fayetteville's Peter Skoggard and Louisiana's Mike Brown recorded 54-save shutouts in 2013 and 2011, respectively.

Before turning pro, Genoe played four seasons at Michigan Tech University where he was a three-time Western Collegiate Hockey Association Scholar-Athlete, earning a 3.72 cumulative grade point average in civil engineering. Genoe was also named the Norbert Matovich Memorial Award Winner as the Huskies' outstanding freshman in 2009-10.
