Syracuse Crunch Crunch Sign Jared Nightingale to PTO

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch have signed defenseman Jared Nightingale to a professional tryout contract, Crunch general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
Nightingale, 32, played 56 games with the Crunch during the 2012-13 season, registering two goals, seven points and 121 penalty minutes. The ninth-year pro has played for five AHL teams since then, captaining the Rockford Ice Hogs in 2013-14 (67 games), and signing four AHL PTOs this year with the Hartford Wolf Pack (6 games), Norfolk Admirals (20 games), Grand Rapids Griffins (2 games) and Milwaukee Admirals (6 games). Nightingale also has played 24 games with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye this season, recording two goals and four points with 24 penalty minutes.
In all, Nightingale has played 559 professional games- 421 in the AHL with nine clubs and 138 in the ECHL with three teams. He's also played 19 Calder Cup Playoff games with Hartford. Since debuting with Springfield in 2006, Nightingale has produced AHL totals of 14 goals, 51 points and 892 penalty minutes. He scored the only shootout game-winning goal of his career with the Crunch Jan. 11, 2013, vs. Norfolk and was named first star.
Nightingale played four seasons at Michigan State University from 2002 to 2006 and served as assistant captain for three years. He totaled two goals and 23 points in 156 games and helped the Spartans to a CCHA Tournament championship as a senior.
Nightingale grew up in Cheboygan, Michigan, stands 6 feet 3 inches, weighs 205 pounds and shoots right.
