JOHNSTOWN, PA - The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that defenseman Alex Jaeckle has committed to play for Canisius College. Jaeckle joins former Tomahawks forward Cody Boyd in committing to play for the Golden Griffins.

"Alex has been a great defenseman for us for the past two seasons, and it has not gone unnoticed by quite a few programs," said Letizia.

Jaeckle played in 45 games this season, scoring 14 points (6 goals, 8 assists). He was an effective member of the Tomahawks power-play unit, leading the team with five power-play goals. Last season, Jaeckle scored seven points (2 goals, 5 assists) in 35 games.

"Alex has so many tools as a hockey player. I think he has the ability to be an impact player as soon as he arrives at Canisius," said Letizia.

Jaeckle joins a Canisius team that finished the season 18-12-7. The Golden Griffins advanced to the semi-finals of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament, before falling to eventual champion RIT.

Canisius is led by Dave Smith, who recently finished his tenth season as head coach. Smith led the program to its first appearance in the NCAA Division I Tournament during the 2013-13 season, and has coached 25 players who have signed professional contracts.
