Wolves Bite Down and Hold on to Win FHL Championship, 6-2.

The Federal Hockey League champions would be determined tonight at the Watertown Municipal Arena where the Watertown Wolves hosted the Danville Dashers. The teams have been alternating victories in the best-of-five series, with Watertown taking games 1 and 3, and Danville taking games 2 and 4.

The Wolves were in their first season of FHL and have been a force to be reckoned with all season, finishing the regular season in the number 1 spot. The Dashers got hot late in the season to finish the regular season in 3rd place. Danville shocked their nay-say-ers when they ousted the #2 team, and defending champions, the Dayton Demonz.

Goaltenders Jo St. Pierre and Matt Anthony were the stars of the first period. Matt Anthony fended off 20 shots from the Wolves and made several head-standing saves. Wolf Jo St. Pierre fended off 10 shots from the Dashers.

The scoreboard lit up the second period. Watertown's Phil Bronner would get the first goal of the game with assists from Justin Alonzo and Mike Donnellan. Chad Bennett made the second goal on a deflected shot by Mike Zannella. Lucas LaBelle's slashing penalty provided Danville with the power play needed for Andrew Harrison's wrister to get by St. Pierre. Watertown struck back two minutes later when Cody Dion tickled twine on a pass from Brent Patry. Bronner got his second goal of the period when he was able to break away with Lucas LaBelle's pass. Patry picked up his second assist by getting the puck to Aaron Atwell who slapped the puck top shelf on Anthony. Danville switched Breton Lindoff into the net for the remainder of the period. The score would remain the same the remainder of the period at 5-1 Watertown.

Danville took advantage of another power play with a goal from Brian Soskin. Watertown held their own and topped off the night with an unassisted empty netter from Lucas LaBelle. The Watertown Wolves claimed the Commissioner's Cup with a final score of 6-2.

The first star of the game was Phil Bronner. Second star was Cody Dion, and the third star was Lucas LaBelle. Cody Dion was also awarded the League's Playoff MVP Award.
