Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Idaho Steelheads (45-17-2-3) broke two third period ties and added a late empty-netter to defeat the Utah Grizzlies (32-26-5-3) 7-4 Friday night at Maverik Center.

"I'm proud of my boys effort of coming back each and every time and tying the game up," said Head Coach/General Manager. "Idaho just finds a way to put the puck in the net."

The Grizzlies battled back down 3-1 in the third period with two goals in 1:53 to tie in the first 3:39 of the period with goals from Mathieu Aubin and Alex Krushelnyski.

After Idaho scored a shorthanded goal 7:27 into the third to reclaim the lead back at 4-3, the Grizzlies tied it again with a shorthanded goal from Brenden Walker (21) 54 seconds later.

The Steelheads scored with three minutes left and then with 1:52 left to make it 6-4.

"When you work hard you get lucky bounces," said Branham. "When you get the swagger, good things happen. We have to find a way to stay positive and keep working because Idaho is a good team but we took it to them pretty good. We have to have that never say die attitude and make sure this one doesn't hurt us."

After Idaho took a 1-0 lead 17 seconds into the game and then made it 2-0 with a five-on-three goal, the Grizzlies battled back with a goal from Channing Boe to make it 2-1.

"I feel like we're playing the right way," said Branham. "We're just making mistakes that end up in the back of our net. We have to make sure we limit those. It's vital that each face off, each play, each time you touch the puck you make sure you're doing the right thing for your teammates. Idaho has guys that can put pucks in the back of the net. We have to make sure we're playing tight. "
