SOUTHAVEN, Miss - The Mississippi RiverKings (33-20-2) scored seven unanswered goals to overcome a 3-1 deficit and defeat the Peoria Rivermen (35-16-3), 8-3, Friday night at the Landers Center.

Peoria got off to a hot start in the first period, taking a 3-1 lead after the first 20 minutes. Alec Hagaman opened the scoring at 5:55 when he found a rebound in the left circle after a blocked shot and he snapped a shot past Peter Di Salvo. Just 28 seconds later the Rivermen went up 2-0 when Ben Oskroba scored an unassisted goal at 6:23. The RiverKings got on the board at 8:50 of the first as Dan Delisle buried a shot off a 2-on-1 with Matt Whitehead. Delisle wristed a shot from the right circle to make it 2-1. Later in the first, during a 4-on-4 situation Jake Trask received a pass in front and scored on Di Salvo for a 3-1 Rivermen lead at 15:04.

The RiverKings rally started just 23 seconds into the second period. Ryan Marcuz forced a turnover in the offensive zone, then tapped the puck to Matt Beer, who backhanded a shot past the glove of Kyle Rank to make it 3-2 Rivermen. It stayed that way until Andrew Randazzo tied the game at 13:29 with a shot from the right circle. Less than three minutes later Devin Mantha pounced on a rebound at the right circle and scored into an open net to give the RiverKings their first lead, 4-3, at 16:15. After a handful of penalties at 17:46, including a five-minute instigator penalty against Peoria captain Cole Ruwe, the RiverKings took advantage with a power-play goal by Randazzo at 18:51 to go up 5-3.

The RiverKings didn't score on an extended 5-on-3 to start the third, but they quickly added to their lead at 4:38 when Delisle escaped on a breakaway scored on a backhand on Dustin Carlson, who replaced Rank after the RiverKings fifth goal. Just over three minutes later Sean Jones also scored on a breakaway, with a similar move to Delisle, to go up 7-3. Matt Harrington capped the scoring with a breakaway of his own, which he scored five-hole on Carlson to give the RiverKings an 8-3 win.
