Blue Crabs Reveal Part Two of Top Promotions List

March 27, 2015 - Atlantic League (AtL)
Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

WALDORF, MD - For as much attention as the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have garnered for their Opening Day plans (see: #FreeTheHermit), the best part about their promotional schedule is that the April 24 opener is just one of 70 home games. Over the coming weeks, the Blue Crabs will be breaking down the top 25 promotions for the 2015 season in a five-part series. After releasing the top five promotions last week, the Blue Crabs are ready to drop some more exciting news with the numbers six through 10.

No. 6 - Diamond Dig (May 7, 2015) - Dig for diamonds in the infield after the game

Taking the "diamond in the rough" idiom to its literal meaning, the Blue Crabs are prepared to bury a piece of diamond jewelry in an unmarked location in the infield at Regency Furniture Stadium. At the conclusion of the game on May 7, participants can purchase spoons for $1.00 each and begin digging in the infield. The digging will continue until one lucky fan finds the valuable item. As an early Mother's Day celebration, the Blue Crabs encourage the winner to pass along their findings to their maternal parent or significant other.

Because nothing says "I love you" like a piece of jewelry, the Blue Crabs have built on this promotion by inviting its fans to submit their wedding videos to the team. The team will decide which wedding they thought was the best, and the winner receive an on-field vow renewal before the game on May 7, administered by soon-to-be ordained minister, General Manager Patrick Day. Additionally, the winner will receive a reception with food and drink in a luxury suite at the stadium on game day. Interested individuals are invited to share their videos by submitting video links to Community Relations Coordinator Greg Jensen at gjensen@somdbluecrabs.com.

No. 7 - Salute to Sneakers Night (May 12, 2015) - Giving away $100 Modell's gift cards every inning

The sub-culture of sneaker fanaticism is a growing trend in America. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs want to pay homage to this expanding "sneakerhead" phenomenon with our "Salute to Sneakers Night" here at the ballpark. Fans are invited to show-off their finest kicks for this night dedicated to shoes. Looking to expand your collection? The Blue Crabs will be giving away $100 Modell's Sporting Goods gift cards every inning throughout the night and you could be the lucky winner!

No. 8 - Candy Drop (August 21, 2015) - A fan-favorite promotion that features a candy drop from a helicopter

Picture this: a helicopter hovers over the field at Regency Furniture Stadium - kids of all ages are ready to rush the field. As the helicopter maintains its position over the grass on the field, something begins to drop from the flying vehicle. Candy! Returning for another season, the ever-popular "Candy Drop" promotion features the Blue Crabs dropping thousands of pieces of candy on the field that is ready to be devoured by its soon-to-be owners. Fans are invited to purchase a spot on the field and take part in this sweet spin on our similar "Money Drop" promotion. Do you have a sweet tooth? This is the promotion for you!

No. 9 - Dollar Hot Dog Night (August 17, 2015) - Need we say more?

Hot dogs and baseball are the perfect combination. For the first time ever, the Blue Crabs will be selling hot dogs at their concession stands for just $1.00 each. That's right, you won't have to worry about breaking the bank on dinner when the Blue Crabs host the York Revolution on August 17. This promotion only comes around once this season, so you do not want to miss out!

No. 10 - 4th of July Festivities (July 4, 2015) - Celebrate America with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs

It is the "Red, White & Blue Crabs Celebration" presented by Wawa! Bring the family and enjoy America's favorite pastime as the Blue Crabs dedicate the day to the land of the free, and the home of the brave. You will want to get here early because the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive an American flag. Our "Home, Sweet Homers" and "Launch-A-Ball" promotions will undoubtedly add to the excitement of the day; but of course, what kind of Independence Day celebration would it be without fireworks?!
