Stingrays Game Preview: Stingrays Put 22-Game Winning Streak on the Line Tonight

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, riding and ECHL-record 22-game winning streak, take on the Toledo Walleye tonight at 7:15 p.m. at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio for the last of four regular-season meetings between the two teams this season.

Kelly Cup Playoffs Update:

South Carolina clinched a berth in the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs for an ECHL-record 21st time last Wednesday with a 4-3 shootout victory against the Cincinnati Cyclones and an Elmira Jackals regulation loss to the Fort Wayne Komets.

Jakaitis Grabbing Wins:

Stingrays goaltender Jeff Jakaitis set a new ECHL record Wednesday night against the Cyclones with his 14th consecutive win, breaking the previous mark set by Daniel Berthiaume who won 13 straight with the Roanoke Express in 1994-95.

Historic Winning Streak:

The Stingrays are riding a 22-game winning streak, the longest in ECHL history and second longest in North American professional hockey. The Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL) set the longest streak of 28 games during the 2011-12 season. The Stingrays are also on an ECHL-record 12-game road winning streak.

Offensive Attack:

The Stingrays have outscored opponents 95-32 during the record winning streak.

Series Breakdown:

The Stingrays hold a 0-2-0-1 head-to-head record against the Walleye this season with all three meetings taking place at the North Charleston Coliseum. The two sides last met January 18 with Toledo prevailing 7-2 with six different players earning multi-point contests. All time, the Stingrays are 19-3-1 against the Walleye.

Stingrays on Streaks:

Defenseman Lee Moffie is on a six-game assist streak with seven assists. Team captain Andrew Rowe is riding an eight-game point streak with two goals and 12 assists for 14 points.

Game Notes

The Stingrays continue a season-high seven-game road trip tomorrow, Saturday, March 28 against the Indy Fuel at 7:35 p.m. at the Indiana Farmer Coliseum in Indianapolis, Indiana and Sunday, March 29 in Evansville, Indiana against the Evansville IceMen ant 6:00. The road trip wraps up with a trio of contests in The Sunshine State April 2-4 with tilts against the Orlando Solar Bears and Florida Everblades.

The Stingrays close the regular-season schedule on Saturday, April 11 against the Evansville IceMen at 7:05 at the North Charleston Coliseum on Fan Appreciation Night and The Post and Courier Hall of Fame Night.
