Yakima Valley Pippins News Release

YAKIMA, Wash. - The Pippins have added two student athletes from Pac-12 teams to the 2015 roster, announcing the additions of Washington State's David Becker and Oregon State's Tyler Mildenberg.

"Continuing our relationship with the Oregon State Beavers and starting a new one with the in-state Cougars will pay immediate dividends for our organization," said Pippins Manager Marcus McKimmy. "The Pac-12 conference is arguably the best league in the country year-in and year-out. Tyler and David will show a direct representation of that."

Becker is a freshman infielder from Seattle. He was a two-time all-league player at Lakeside High School and helped lead the Lions to their first ever berth in the state tournament.

"David is a great kid and a baseball fanatic," said McKimmy. "At 6'0, 190 lbs, David will play primarily 2nd base for the Pippins. Reports from Pullman indicate good extra base power this spring and the ability to really turn the double play."

Mildenberg is in his second year as an infielder with the Beavers. The Huntington Beach, California native is hitting .250 (1-4) through his first four games of the year, after hitting .375 (3-8) in 12 games last season. He is listed as an infielder, but McKimmy also sees plenty of opportunity for Mildenberg in the outfield.

"Tyler is like a Swiss-army knife and I plan to use him as such this summer," said McKimmy. "He is a left-handed bat that really runs and can play the short-game on offense. His best position on defense is yet to be determined, because I think he can play all three outfield spots and will also play some infield for us in a pinch."
