Bluefish Acquire Hurler Mincey

(Bridgeport, Conn. - March 26, 2015 ) - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the acquisition and signing of pitcher Patrick Mincey. Mincey will be making his Atlantic League debut during his fourth season of professional ball after he was acquired in a trade with Winnipeg of the American Association for outfielder Brandon Boggs.

"I had the pleasure of coaching Patrick back in 2013," says Bluefish manager Ricky VanAsselberg. "He's a very talented pitcher with an impressive repertoire, and will be a nice addition for our club."

All three of his prior professional seasons have come in the Independent ranks, previously playing for four teams; Schaumburg in 2012 (Frontier League), Grand Prairie in 2013 (American Association), and Wichita and Kansas in 2014, both of which were part of the American Association.

The 25-year-old has performed very well in professional baseball, posting a career 2.78 ERA over 130 games, all relief appearances. He has recorded 42 saves over 139.1 innings pitched, and has posted a career K/9 of 9.9.

Known for is impressive demeanor, the righthander has yet to commit a balk during his professional career, and has managed to throw only one wild pitch.

Mincey ' s best season was in 2013 (under current Manager Ricky VanAsselberg) when he posted a career-best 1.01 ERA with 24 saves, en route to winning the Reliever of the Year Award.
