Harrisburg City Islanders 2015 Season Opener Match Preview

Harrisburg - The Harrisburg City Islanders begin their season on the road, traveling to Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA where they take on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday, March 28. Kickoff is 7:00 p.m.

Last season Harrisburg went 1-2-0 in the Derby with the lone victory being a dominating 3-1 W at Highmark Stadium (below).

The Isles' enter the match looking to kick off their 2015 USL Championship campaign. The club has brought back 8 players from their 2014 USL Championship Match roster, including Nick Noble, Yann Ekra, Jose Barril, Garret Pettis, Danny DiPrima, Coady Andrews, Shane Johnson, and Neil Shaffer. The City Islanders have also signed many new players to the 2015 roster, including Bermudian and Jamaican National Team participants Dante Leverock and Cardel Benbow.

Meanwhile in Pittsburgh, the Riverhounds have recently hired Mark Steffens as President and Head Coach. It will be Steffens' first competitive match in charge of the team. In addition, the Riverhounds bring back Interim Coach/Defender Nikola Katic as an Assistant Coach for the squad, which will assist them in the transition to Steffens taking the reins. Steffens will look to right the ship after a poor season in the Steel City in 2014 led to an 11th place league finish.
