ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits announced today its plans for the second year of their Scholar Athlete of the Week program sponsored by TransNational Bankcard.

The program will run during the course of the 2015 high school season, beginning immediately, and will provide an opportunity for a student to win a $1,000 scholarship courtesy of TransNational.

"We are very excited to see this scholarship enter into its second year," said Kimberly Foster of TransNational. "TransNational values the commitment and dedication exhibited by high school athletes and through this scholarship hopes to encourage personal, professional and athletic growth.

"Good luck to all student athletes participating in this program."

Parents, coaches, administrators and fellow students can nominate a softball player from their school for the award. Nominations must be submitted each Friday by 5 p.m. in order to be considered for the award. Each week, nominations will be voted up on by the Bandits and TransNational staff members, with one winner being selected.

Nominations of student athletes will consist of both accomplishments on the diamond, in the classroom as well as the community.

"The Bandits are very excited about this program and partnership with TransNational," exclaimed team GM Aaron M. Moore. "We feel very strongly about promoting academics and athletics, so this is a perfect fit for us.

"We are also very thankful for TransNational's continued support of the Scholar Athlete program."

In 2014, Brook Stulga from Manteno High School was named the inaugural Scholar Athlete of the Week award winner. Stulga is currently in her freshman season at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill.

Weekly award winners will be featured on the Bandits social media pages and the home page of the Bandits website.
